Admissions Overview
Thank you for your interest in the Austin Jewish Academy community! We are now scheduling school visits for the academic year 2011-2012, for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Students entering Kindergarten should be at least five years old by September 1, 2011.
Austin Jewish Academy also offers a Transitional Kindergarten for students who will be 4.10 years through 5.2 years by September 1, 2011. Designed for students who are in a transitional year between pre-school and kindergarten, this program aligns expectations with the skills and readiness levels of the students, with the goal being to parallel the regular kindergarten program as closely as possible.
AJA admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color and national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and school administered programs or in employment of faculty and administrative staff.
Kindergarten Open House – Thursday, January 6, 2011 8:45am – 10:15am
Designed for parents of future Kindergartners, Open House will include greetings from Head of School, Bernice Kirzner, and Principal, Jeni Tubbs; Curriculum Overview by Kindergarten Faculty, and Guided tour of AJA's Classrooms.
Middle School Open House – Wednesday, January 13, 2011 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Designed for students in grades 4–7 and their parents' AJA's Middle School Open House will include a show case of student work and projects, interactive panel with current students, faculty and alumni, program information and enrollment info.
How to Apply:
1) Contact Shira Strosberg (512-735-8370), Director of Admissions and Outreach, to schedule a tour of the Austin Jewish Academy.
2) Attend an Open House for Kindergarten on Thu, January 6, 2011 8:45am - 10:15am or Middle School on Wed, January 13, 2011 6:30pm - 8:30pm.
3) Submit Application for Admissions (including non-refundable application fee and release of records form) by Mon, January 31, 2011.
4) Participate in our Kindergarten Round–Up on Thu, February 24, 2011 (for students entering Kindergarten).
5) Participate in a full–day, school visit and assessment (for students entering grades K – 8th) during the week of February 28, 2011.
6) Once student is accepted, return tuition contract and deposit by Mon, March 28, 2011 and completed enrollment materials by Fri, April 29, 2011 (admissions decisions will be mailed on Fri, March 11, 2011).
