Rabbi Bob Kirzner received his smicha from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, OH. He has served congregations in Toronto, Canada, Michigan, Ohio, Florida and New York where his focus was always on education and teaching. He spent many years doing youth work both in congregational and camp settings. He was instrumental in establishing a Jewish congregation at the U.S. Army facility at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany where he also worked extensively with wounded service people at the beginning of the Iraq conflict. Most recently he continued his work with the military at Walter Reed Army Medical center in Washington D.C. working both with hospital patients and the Armed Services Blood Program. During his career, Rabbi Kirzner has also worked from the lay side in the Jewish community. He was a founding member of Congregation Kol Ami in Frederick, MD where he served as mentor to the new rabbi and teacher of the confirmation class. He also served one term as president of the congregation.
