Mr. Mike Wendling is returning to the Austin Jewish Academy for his second year in the Middle School Faculty, teaching Language Arts and Humanities.
Since receiving his degree from the University of Chicago, Mr. Wendling has been working with middle school students. He initially
worked in a residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed children then switched focus from psychology to education.
Mr. Wendling received his Multiple Subjects Credential from St. Mary's College in Moraga, California which led to his first teaching position,
a combined 6th-8th grade classroom in which he taught all core subjects for six years. Since moving to Texas, he has received Texas certification
for Elementary and Middle School and has presented at state and national conferences. Mr. Wendling relocated to Austin from
Houston where he served as a Middle School Coordinator and Teacher for seven years. What he loves most about his calling is the opportunity
to accompany students on their paths through this challenging yet defining time in their lives. In addition to reading and writing, he loves writing
and playing music, playing with creative technologies, and laughing at the absurdities life can offer. He and his wife are looking forward to exploring
the cultural and natural resources of Austin and the Hill Country.
