TGIF

Fridays are special at AJA. Once a week we take a break from our regular routine, and gather together as a school community for TGIF or T’fillah, Guided Instruction, and Fun. Whether it’s Rosh Chodesh, Election Day, Pesach, or Thanksgiving we’re focused on content, meaning and celebration. Everyone looks forward with great anticipation to these innovative activities and always say, “TGIF!”

Chaverim

Chaverim, literally “friends,” is the term we use for our school buddy program. Pairing each lower grade student with an older student for the year adds to the warmth and family feeling at AJA. Chaverim come together for many different activities throughout the year including: Hebrew reading program, social action projects, and holiday celebrations.

Middah of the Month

Ethical awareness is an important part of the curriculum and atmosphere at AJA. Each month our school community identifies one middah (ethical principle) to focus on that will help us in our personal growth and development.

  • September: Conflict Resolution (Helping Others on The Path of Good and Peace)
  • October: Respect and Communication with Friends (Guarding One’s Speech)
  • November: Respect and Communication with Adults (Knowing One’s Place)
  • December: Taking Responsibility for Our Actions (Loving Righteous Ways)
  • January: Healthy Lifestyle Choices-drug abuse awareness for upper grades (Happiness)
  • February: Feelings and Self Respect (A Perceptive Heart)
  • March: Study and Test Taking Skills (Absorb Knowledge and Add To It)
  • April: The Earth and Conservation (Loving All Creatures)
  • May: You Are A Winner!! (Putting Your Heart in What You Do)
