Type of School
Austin Jewish Academy is a kindergarten through eighth grade co-ed independent school not affiliated with any particular movement or synagogue. Wherever you fall on the spectrum of Jewish practice, you will find an educational home here.
Every student at AJA knows that they are cared for. With an average of 11 students per class, every voice is heard and valued. Approximately half our faculty and staff have graduate-level degrees.
In addition to strengths in STEM, language arts, math, art, and Modern Hebrew, AJA is known for using a project-based learning curriculum, meaningful integration of secular and Jewish studies, attention to social-emotional learning and employment of the Conscious Discipline approach to classroom management. Third grade and up are reinventing the classroom experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW), an award-winning STEM curriculum with pathways in computer science, robotics and automation, design, and environmental studies. All instruction is in English (except for Hebrew and Spanish classes).
