It's a bird, it's a plane, it's....the Kindergarten Superheroes!

We are continuing our measurement unit in math, as well as incorporating personalized beginning and subtraction word problems.  We are working on having self-control as we enter the last 45 days of school.  Helping the children be more aware of how their actions affect others is an important life skill.  Spirit Week at AJA was filled with a variety of special activities.  On Purim, the children were able to parade their costumes through the ECP on Purim and enjoy the Megillah in the synagogue and do a service activity for soldiers in Israel, as well as hearing Purim songs and a Dr. Seuss version of the story of Purim.

We had a mix-it up lunch with older students, group day, pajama day and our favorite…Superhero Day!  With the high level of energy on that day, we decided it would only be fitting to read the book, Superdog the Heart of a Hero, sing the song Vowel Bat and write about being a superhero.  As we did meditation, our thought and breathing focus was on what it means to be a hero and who we think are heroes in their lives.
