Bridges to First Grade

By in , , ,

Last week week we learned about Johnny Appleseed. We chopped apples for our homemade applesauce, taste tested 6 different kinds of apples, had centers for math and science that were all apple related, finished assembling our Johnny Appleseed pop up books and tasted our delicious applesauce and cider.  We even tasted apples one day and dipped them in honey for Rosh Hashana.

This week we are learning about Benjamin Franklin, the scientist as well as the citizen.  We are revisiting skip counting to 100 by 1’s, 2’s , 5’s and 10’s as well as being able to count backwards.  In phonics and spelling we are working on the sounds of the digraphs th, sh, ch, wh as well as the ending sound of ck. We are continuing our work at home on Raz kids and logging the books we read.

I want to wish everyone a L’shana Tova, May you have a sweet new year.
