We started off by taking a look at water lilies painted by French Impressionist artist Claude Monet (1840-1926) Students began by painting the illusion of water on paper with tempera paints. Once dry we added white waves. The next step was to decoupage another piece of paper with green and yellow tissue papers. Once dry we drew lily pad shapes on the back of the decoupage paper, cut them out and glued them onto the water paintings. We created water lilies by scrunching up different colored tissue papers and glued them onto the lily pads.
We are now working on a project inspired by Louise Nevelson.
