Recently we have been working hard on getting ready for trimester exams. In history we have been examining the industrial age and looking at how developments in technology had large impacts (both positive and negative) on the economy. We have also started reading ‘As A Driven Leaf’ which is a fictional account of the life of a sage during the Rabbinic period who struggles with the conflict between Jewish knowledge and Greek knowledge. This work provides with both a historical study and the opportunity to explore the relationship between Jewish and non-Jewish knowledge and experience today. We will be continuing to read this into the next trimester when our focus turns to the question, ‘How do changes in the environment change people?’ Our social studies focus will be on the Jazz age and World War 1.
