Fifth grade is continuing to learn the story of Yosef (Joseph) – right now, he is in Egypt, and he has risen in the ranks to be Pharaoh’s second in command. He has single-handedly saved the world from famine by stockpiling grain for the past 7 years, and now people from all over the world are coming to buy food from him. One family who shows up is his own family – his brothers – but they don’t recognize him. He wants to see if they are truly repentant so he designs a series of tests to see if they’ve changed their ways! In class, we will be discussing if testing his brothers was right or fair, and why it’s important to change your behavior.

In Tefillah, we are practicing our skills of saying the Amidah, and soon we will move on to the Aleinu. We are also learning more and more of the Hallel service for Rosh Chodesh (the new month) as well as practicing our Torah-reading skills so that everyone feels ready and prepared to read in Thursday morning minyan!!
