This month we focused on making 3D pumpkins. First we blew up balloons and the students help tape down the string around the balloons to create the bulges of the pumpkin. Once the students had torn up orange tissue paper, they used the technique of decopache (gluing small pieces of tissue paper on a surface with modge podge glue) all over the balloon to cover it. Once it was dry the students painted their pumpkins with orange acrylic paint and added leaves that they had painted with liquid water colors and then made a stalk out of green pipe cleaners. We also got to paint pumpkins with our fingers in orange and green tempera paint-that was a lot of fun.
