SCIENCE

This week the fourth grade students were “attracted to” their investigations into electromagnetism. They asked the question: How are electricity and magnetism related? Students built electromagnets and simple electric motors using wire, batteries and magnets.

Carly and Eddie notice the needle on the compass moves when electric currents travel through the wire.

Dream Room Projects

Last week, students began their dream room projects. The essential question: How can I use budgeting, arithmetic, area/geometry, technology, science, and organizational skills to create the room of my dreams?

This type of multi-disciplinary project truly excites the learners as they imagine, plan, and then create! This week students will install the electrical wiring in their boxes.

The class truly enjoyed the visit from Austin Energy on Wednesday. The students were each given jobs with the electric company and were called on to make repairs on a model city.
