Middle School 2015 Hebrew and an irrational number

As you can see we’ve had some students present their work to the entire class. They have prepared a presentation (in Hebrew, of course) about the pros and cons of horse-back riding, from the point of view of the horse. A lively discussion followed the presentations.

We have also been learning many new vocabulary words and the students have gotten better at being ready for their weekly vocabulary quiz. Keep up the good work!

This week students moved on to Fractions. The students are adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, mixed numbers, and solving fractional equations. We have an exciting new textbook that was given to us by Lauren Meyers, Eli’s mom, and we are all having a lot of fun with it!

The students have explored some Algebra 1 material: simplifying equations with exponents, simplifying algebraic expressions with radicals. We proved that sqrt(2) is not a rational number. Please ask your students to share the proof with you. Just in case they forget the details, here it is:
