Here we are in the month of November! We are halfway to one hundred days of school!! We celebrated on the 50th day of school with a bag of surprises that Zero the Hero left for the children and enjoyed doing different activities involving the number fifty, including fifty different exercises.
We finished our Water unit with an exciting Water Project Show. The children were able to present their ideas and work with visiting parents after singing two great songs, one about the water cycle and the other about conserving water. These children love to sing and they are delightful to listen to. As part of our water unit the children were able to do several water related experiments, plant a fall garden and make sure they provided the right amount of water for germination, had a fun afternoon with mud, took a trip to a television station, and did some cloud observations.
We are now busy learning about what it might have been like to be on a ship hundreds of years ago for two months, what things the Pilgrims would have had to give up and what they gained, what the first Thanksgiving might have been like and how the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims survive. We are talking about family traditions and getting ready for our Thanksgiving program and feast. We are looking forward to a trip Switch Willow stables to learn about horses and discovering why they were so important in earlier times.
Coming up in December as a way to integrate with Jewish Studies we will be doing a unit about Light. Our Hanukkah play will be on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 9:00 am. I hope you will plan to join us!
