We started pre-algebra class with a riddle, which I will share with you. We then explored number patterns and reviewed adding and subtracting of positive and negative integers. The second half of the week was dedicated to exponents. On our last day we performed an experiment in which we kept cutting a piece of paper to three pieces, repeating the process 5 times. We then calculated how many times it would take to repeat this process in order to (theoretically, of course) reach the moon.

And now our weekly riddle:

You have a 3 and a 5 litre water container, each container has no markings except for that which gives you it’s total volume. You also have a running tap. You must use the containers and the tap in such away as to exactly measure out 4 litres of water. How is this done?

The students successfully solved the riddle. I will share the solution in my next post!

Have a fun week. I’m sure the kids will have a blast in their trip.
