Hi Parents!
We are having a great third week of school! We have started to talk about citizenship and the qualities of a good citizen.  The students worked with a partner to draw or act out one of the qualities (respect, trustworthiness, fairness, responsibility, caring) of a good citizen. The students have explored our “Work on Writing†component of the Daily 5 by writing lists, cards, and sticker stories. They have also  started to go to one station a day, where they are rotating through poetry/big books, writing, handwriting, buddy reading, and learning games.
In math we are beginning unit 2 so look for the family letter explaining what we will be doing during this unit. Next week I am going to start sending home “extension†math homework. This homework is not a requirement. However, if you want to give your child more challenging math homework this packet is for that purpose.
I am going to start sending home book bags next week. Please return these daily.  Next week the student’s homework will be to read for 15 minutes a night and complete their citizenship project. I will be sending home information about their citizenship project today!ÂÂ
Please note:  Starting next week I will send home the purple homework folders on Monday (Or the first day of the week: next week it will be Wednesday because there is no school Monday/Tuesday) . The folders and homework packets should be returned on Friday. They do not need to bring their purple folders back daily.
